A judge threw a 17-year-old 11th grade honor student from Willis High School in jail after she missed school again.
Judge Lanny Moriarty said last month Diane Tran was in his Justice of the Peace court for truancy and he warned her then to stop missing school. But she recently missed classes again so Wednesday he issued a summons and had her arrested in open court when she appeared.
Tran said she works a full-time job, a part-time job and takes advanced placement and dual credit college level courses. She said she is often too exhausted to wake up in time for school. Sometimes she misses the entire day, she said. Sometimes she arrives after attendance has been taken.
The judge ordered Tran to spend 24 hours in jail and pay a $100 fine. Judge Moriarty admitted that he wants to make an example of Tran.
“If you let one (truant student) run loose, what are you gonna’ do with the rest of ‘em? Let them go too?” Judge Moriarty asked.
Tran said she is working so hard because she is helping to support an older brother who attends Texas A&M University and a baby sister who lives with relatives in Houston. Tran said her parents divorced “out of the blue” and both moved away, leaving her in Willis. Her mother lives in Georgia, she said.

This is stupid. If you want to set an example, do it with some reject who skips school for fun not one who does it inadvertently because she oversleeps from working two jobs and taking advanced placement classes at the college.
What the hell kind of world do you live in, sir? We don’t want people earning their tuition money here. Edumacation is a right.

I want a Wonder Bread-colored doll please. *dies laughing*
Sure, get upset that I think this is funny, but frankly, I’m not offended by being referred to as “milk chocolate.” I usually reply with some other food-related terms when called it and then usually have a laugh afterwards, along with the other person. (^_^)
I can think of WAY worse things to be called than “chocolate”-something, OP. I’m sure you can too.
As a POC, it pisses me off when someone says they don’t buy tan dolls because they remind her of her landscapers. Or when people call the features I have exotic. Or when people compare dark skin to chocolate but seldom use food to describe lighter skin in a dehumanizing and otherizing way (black women are not delicious sexual pieces of chocolate). Or the way normal and tan are used by the companies and community to describe different skin tones. Think before you speak and educate yourself.

Because White/Wonder bread, Vanilla, and Cracker are not food item terms referring to skin color?
Ever seen BJDs that come in “vanilla,” “cracker,” or “wonderbread?” :)
I’ve also never seen BJDs offered in “chocolate.” OP seemed to be simultaneously talking about dolls and real people.
Fairyland sells tan “chocopuki” dolls, Bobobie and ResinSoul sell dolls under “chocolate” and “coffee,” Hujoo sells “chocolate,” DollMore sells “dark chocolate,” and “black chocolate,” LUTS sells “chocolate,” Leekeworld does too. Iplehouse refers to their tan Cocori as “chocolate-colored.” :)

The Gay Republican: where the hell is immigration? If I were head of it I would be here rounding up these illegals, and deporting them.
Why do you think they’re “unafraid”?

Perfect example: http://crobidolls.com/shop/step1.php?number=2039
Item : Choco
Skin : Milk Chocolate
Go figure. Racist is racist.
Also, not all black people are dark. ~rolls eyes~
And Angell Studio refers to their white shades as Milk, and Butter for their deep yellow.
